Alvão Natural Park

Instituted as a protected area in 1983, the Alvão Natural Park spans between the municipality of Mondim de Bastos and of Vila Real.Spotting its landscape, rest granite and shale-erected villages with thatched and slated roofs, of which Lamas de Olo and Ermelo are examples.

Pinhão

Resting in the heartland of Douro, part of UNESCO World Heritage Site list, lies the gorgeous village of Pinhão. Contrasting with other villages and hamlets, Pinhão is fairly recent, only being founded in the 18th century. Nowadays this small village by Douro’s banks welcomes thousands of tourists every year, arriving by boat or by its famous railroad tracks.

Palácio de Mateus

A classic example of baroque architecture, the Palácio de Mateus dates back to the 18th century. Its construction was devised by Nicolau Nasoni, whose most famed and prominent architectural piece in Portugal is the Torre dos Clérigos (in Oporto city).

Museu de Arqueologia e Numismática

Housed in a 18th century building, the Museu de Arqueologia e Numismática de Vila Real (Arqueological and Numismatic Museum of Vila Real) opened its doors in 1997.Its broad and rich collection has been amassed by the donation of formerly private-held items by Father João Parente, an academically acclaimed scholar in both fields, whose passion and enthusiasm culminated in the inauguration of this museum

Corgo Park

Corgo Park is located on the banks of the river of the same name, it has an area of about 33 hectares; and is linked to the Forest Park, a true driving force of the city. It incorporates various facilities: multi-sport fields, pedestrian routes, the Codessais picnic area (equipped with grills and tables), open-air municipal pools, a children's park, cafés and tea houses; and you can still see old windmills, some of which have been refurbished.

Panóias Sanctuary

The Sanctuary of Panoias was built between the end of the IInd  and the beginning of the IIIrd Centuries by the Roman senator Caius Calpurnius Rufinus, dedicated to the Infernal deities, led by Serapis, and the gods of the Lapiteas, an ethnic group indigenous to the region.
